Sony has showcased some of the upcoming PlayStation VR games during the ChinaJoy expo in Shanghai this week. Find out what they are below.

New games are coming to PlayStation VR soon, so it’s high time that Sony Interactive Entertainment starts teasing them. This Wednesday, Sony showcased new PS VR titles at the ChinaJoy International Digital Entertainment Expo in Shanghai. The company has put the spotlight on four new creations that were made through its partnership with Asian developers.

“Stifled”

This is the first of the four titles that will soon come to PS VR. It is a horror game, but it is not the typical type of horror game. For one thing, players need to make some noise just so they could see the environment they are in while playing the game. It’s pretty much like how bats’ echolocation ability works. Players will rely on this virtual sonar-like system for their vision throughout the game.

Players can generate an image of their surroundings by making noises into the headset’s built-in microphone. The noise that the player makes actually has two purposes: first to illuminate the way and the other one is to alert lurking enemies of the player’s presence. It’s not clear if the latter is an advantage, considering that enemies hear fear depending on the noise the player makes.

Story-wise, “Stifled” is about a character who lost the sense of sight after a tragic event. There are eerie consequences to the darkening of the character’s vision, and players are expected to survive through them.

“The Walker”

This is a fantasy combat game that was made by Chinese developer Haymaker. It is set in ancient Shanghai, and it centers on the journey of a character, who is a distant descendant of an ancient clan known for their swordsmanship and sorcery. These two skills will help the protagonist in saving the world from a demonic militia.

To fight the enemies, the leading character must learn and master spells and charms on top of using special weapons. Speaking of weapons, players can infuse special powers into these devices.

“Kill X”

Made in partnership with VIVA Games, “Kill X” is described as a claustrophobic thriller that’s set on a secret island. In this island, players will stumble upon bizarre experiments. Apparently, a clandestine organization is experimenting on human subjects in search of the right substance to guarantee immortality.

To stop the madness, players must battle through the inhabitants of the area, and this won’t be easy as they are swarms of them in the island. Players will also run into some puzzles and powerful weaponry. Hopefully, these will be enough to solve the biggest heart-stopping mystery in the game.

“Legion Commander”

The last but certainly not the least title that was showcased at ChinaJoy expo was “Legion Commander,” which is a real-time strategy game made by ChangYou Games. Based on its title alone, it does not come as a surprise that players will be forming an army in this game before hitting the battlefield.

The ongoing war in the world of this game stems from the differences of three races: Orcs, Humans and Elves. Apparently, all three are raging war against each other due to the influence of an ancient demon. Players can restore harmony among the races by defeating enemies and developing the right set of skills.
