RTTNews - South Africa's wholesale trade at constant prices declined 5.9% year-on-year in March to ZAR45.8 billion, a report by Statistics South Africa said Thursday. At current prices, wholesale trade was down 1% to ZAR82.3 billion in March.

Month-on-month, wholesale trade grew a seasonally adjusted 0.4% at constant prices and increased 0.3% at current prices in March.

During the first quarter, wholesale trade at constant prices declined 6.2% year-on-year compared to a 6.8% growth in the same period the last year. At current prices, wholesale trade was up 0.6% in the first quarter.

Sequentially, wholesale trade slipped 5.4% at constant prices and 5.8% at current prices, on a seasonally adjusted basis, in the first quarter.
