RTTNews - South Africa's wholesale trade sales at constant prices decreased 15.1% year-on-year in April to ZAR42.4 billion, faster than a 5.7% drop in the previous month, the Statistics South Africa said Thursday. This was the fourth consecutive month of fall in sales.

At current prices, wholesale trade was down 12.6% annually in April compared to a 0.7% drop in March.

Month-on-month, the seasonally adjusted sales declined 0.4% at current prices, but rose 0.2% at constant prices in April.

For the three months ended April, the sales at constant prices fell 9.9% compared to a 10.6% growth in the same period last year. Compared to the previous quarter, the sales were down a seasonally adjusted 5.5% in this period.
