RTTNews - South Africa recorded a current account deficit of ZAR163.7 billion in the first quarter, up from a ZAR137.3 billion deficit in the fourth quarter, the country's Reserve Bank said Thursday. A year earlier, the deficit stood at ZAR192.4 billion.

During the first quarter, the trade deficit widened to ZAR53.4 billion from ZAR19.6 billion in the fourth quarter, while the deficit on the services, income and current transfer account increased to ZAR110.3 billion from ZAR117.7 billion.
