The S&P 500 and Nasdaq ended slightly higher on Thursday, with the S&P 500 hovering around two-year highs, a trend investors expect to continue through the rest of the year.

The S&P 500 <.SPX> closed above 1,228.74, the 61.8 percent Fibonacci retracement of the 2007-2009 market slide, while the Nasdaq closed at its highest level since December 31, 2007.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> dropped 2.35 points, or 0.02 percent, to 11,370.13, according to the latest available figures. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index gained 4.72 points, or 0.38 percent, to 1,233.00. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> gained 7.51 points, or 0.29 percent, to 2,616.67.
