A 5.3 magnitude earthquake struck the ancient town of Lorca in southeastern Spain May 12, 2011.

It was the worst earthquake to hit Spain in 50 years.

Hundreds of people queued for food on Thursday from emergency workers in Lorca, prevented from returning to their homes damaged by an unusually strong 5.3 magnitude earthquake that killed eight people and injuring dozens, sending thousands into the streets.
