RTTNews - Retail sales in Spain dropped 7.8% year-on-year in May, after falling a revised 8.5% in the previous month, the National Statistics Institute or INE said Monday. On an annual basis, retail sales have been falling continuously since May 2008.

Food sales were down 11.5% annually in May, while non-food sales dropped 5.5%.

Month-on-month, retail sales rose 0.7% in May compared to a 0.8% growth in the preceding month. Retail sales grew for the third consecutive month in May.
