Declining orders for Spanish manufacturers, among other leading economic indicators, fell in February, signaling that Spain's recession is worsening, the Conference Board said Thursday.

The board's index of leading economic indicators for Europe's fifth-largest economy declined 3 percent, its first downturn in six months.

Also, the Conference Board's measure of current economic activity "remained very widespread, with all five components declining during the past six months."
