RTTNews - Tuesday, a report by Spain labor ministry said the number of unemployed persons decreased by 24,741 to 3.6 million in May from the preceding month, representing the first decline in 14 months.

The Secretary General for Employment Maravillas Rojo said the drop in unemployment was certainly good news, but that couldn't be interpreted as the difficult situation being overcome; only that the pace of decline in employment had slowed.

Registered unemployment declined in all sectors. It was down 2.1% in construction, 0.64% in services, 0.54% in industry and 2.57% in agriculture.

Meanwhile, regarding the benefits, the payroll stood at EUR2.63 million in April, up 72.2% from last year.
