Maya and Jimmy attend a school fundraiser in the next episode of “Speechless.”

According to the synopsis for Season 2, episode 12 of the ABC comedy, Maya (Minnie Driver) and Jimmy (John Ross Bowie) get involved with Lafayette High School’s 1970s-themed fundraiser, where Maya makes a new friend and Jimmy discovers the benefits of being tall.

It’s unclear who Maya’s new friend is, but since Lennon Parham is listed as a guest star in the episode, it’s likely that that the “Playing House” alum is the one portraying Maya’s new pal.

Meanwhile, in the promo photos for the episode, Jimmy looks taller than the usual. While it remains to be seen where the father of three get that extra height, one of the promo pictures suggests that Jimmy is wearing a pair of high-heel shoes for men.

According to Live About, the men’s high-heel shoes is one of the most memorable trends of the ‘70s. Even though a lot of people associate men’s heels exclusively with the disco era, the footwear had actually gained popularity among the masses long before the 1977 release of John Travolta’s disco movie “Saturday Night Fever.” David Bowie, Marc Bolan, Peter Frampton, and members of The Jackson 5 were some of the male recording and performing artists who helped popularize the men’s high-heel trend in the early part of the 1970s.

Elsewhere in this week’s episode of “Speechless,” Kenneth tries to win over a crowd with his DJ skills. In a sneak peek from the episode, Kenneth is seen DJ’ing at the fundraiser. Interested in knowing who among the attendees are not in a relationship, JJ’s (Micah Fowler) aide tells the crowd, “All single ladies, let me hear your scream!”

But much to Kenneth’s surprise, no one from the people on the dance floor reacts to his request. “Are there any single ladies or you’re just not a screaming crowd?” he wonders aloud. Kenneth then asks the married ladies to scream, and much to his disappointment, he finds out that all ladies at the fundraiser are already taken. “OK, alright,” a disheartened Kenneth says on the mic. “Just give me a moment as I try to figure out why I agreed to do this for free.”

Also in the upcoming episode, Ray (Mason Cook) is tired of being the responsible sibling, so he explores his reckless side with JJ and Dylan (Kyla Kenedy).

“Speechless” Season 2, episode 12, titled “THE H-U-S--HUSTLE,” airs on Wednesday, Jan. 10 at 8:30 p.m. EST on ABC. Watch the sneak peek below:
