Arsenal Transfer Rumours: Arsene Wenger Determined to Land Chieck Tiote

The Daily Mirror reports that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is set to make a bold bid for Newcastle United star Chieck Tiote in the final days of the summer transfer window.

The report suggests Wenger is confident of landing the Ivory Coast ace for around £15 million. Signing Tiote would be a major coup for Wenger and the perfect way to conclude an active transfer window for the Gunners.

Since the sale of Alex Song to Barcelona, questions have been raised about Arsenal's options in midfield. Tiote is the kind of aggressive ball-winner the Gunners currently lack.

In fact, as a defensive midfielder, Tiote would be an upgrade over Song. The Cameroon standout was an inconsistent tackler and dispalyed sub-par positional insitncts during his time in North London.

Dodgers Going All In

Dodgers Going All In

The Los Angeles Dodgers have put all their poker chips in the center of the table and are hoping to catch an ace on the river.

They made a blockbuster deal that sent James Loney and four minor-leaguers to Boston for Adrian Gonzalez, Josh Beckett, Carl Crawford and Nick Punto.

The Dodgers are taking on a ton of money as Gonzalez, Crawford, and Beckett are owed $250 million collectively after this season.

This move is something Dodger fans have been waiting quite some time for. Their previous owner, Frank McCourt, was too busy buying yachts, resorts, and luxuries to please himself.

He could care less about putting the best team on the field.

Things have changed quickly with the new Dodgers' ownership group. The Guggenheim Baseball Management group purchased the Dodgers for over $2 billion and they can care less about writing checks.

There is one thing on their mind: contending for World Series. (Not one, not two, not three, not four...)

It’s Official: Adrian Gonzalez Is Officially A Dodger (Carl Crawford and Josh Beckett Too)

Commissioner Bud Selig has officially approved the deal that puts Adrian Gonzalez in the cleanup spot of Don Mattingly's Dodger lineup tonight against the Marlins. Dodger fans holding tickets for tonight's game will be pleasantly surprised at the new all-star manning first base.

The colossal trade, one of the biggest in the history of the game, came to fruition after Los Angeles claimed Adrian Gonzalez off of waivers from the Boston Red Sox. The move constitutes efforts by ownership to dump large contracts in favor of essentially re-starting the entire franchise. It's a wise move on Boston's part as they get to build their team the way Texas did, from the ground up. In addition to Gonzalez, the Dodgers acquired outfielder Carl Crawford, starting pitcher Josh Beckett, and utility infielder Nick Punto.
