Maryland at No. 8 West Virginia Preview, Players to Watch, TV Coverage, Where to Watch Online

Preview

Another West Virginia passing record will fall when Maryland comes to Morgantown on Saturday.

Quarterback Geno Smith is just one passing attempt short of Marc Bulger's career mark of 1,023. The senior already holds the career records for completions, yards and touchdowns, so sometime, likely on WVU's first drive, the scoreboard at Milan Puskar Stadium will light up and Smith will officially be the most prolific quarterback in school history.

After that, a rivalry will be played out, perhaps West Virginia's last traditional rivalry that will be played regularly in the foreseeable future.

The Mountaineers played their last contest with Pitt in 2011 and their last with Marshall in Week 1 this season, and both series are yet to be renewed. However, head coach Dana Holgorsen expressed his interest in continuing the series with UMD in his press conference this Tuesday (via WVUSports.com).

Liverpool News: How Brendan Rodgers can unsettle Alex Ferguson as Liverpool prepare to take on Manchester United Sunday

There are some who would like to see tackling outlawed in football.  There are others who want to see the crowd sitting quietly while the ninety minutes passes them by, expecting fans to show support their team without permitting any show of passion.  And there are others who don’t understand why bitter footballing rivals share such an animosity for one another.  In a week when football has been trying to recover from the shock of the Hillsborough review panel’s findings, the well-meaning masses have sought to play down Sunday’s encounter between the two most successful clubs in England.

UFC 152: Jones vs. Belfort Predictions: The Prelims

Preliminary Card (FX) Light Heavyweight Bout: Igor Pokrajac (25-8) vs. Vinny Magalhaes (9-5) Classic striker vs. grappler match up. The fight will come down to whom can best implement their game plan. Igor Pokrajac has shown to be susceptible to the takedown in the past and although Vinny Magalhaes doesn't have the best offensive wrestling, there is a good chance he only needs one takedown to finish the fight. If Pokrajac can avoid being put on his back, he has a good chance at landing a knockout. If not, Magalhaes gets it to the ground and wins the fight by submission.

Prediction: Vinny Magalhaes via Submission - Round 2

Maryland Terrapins At West Virginia Mountaineers Preview: TV Coverage And Where To Watch Online Live Stream

Maryland at #8 West VirginiaSaturday, Noon EDT, FXBe prepared for an offensive mismatch this weekend between Maryland and West Virginia.  Randy Edsall’s Terrapins are 2-1, but defeated FCS William and Mary in the opening week only because of a late touchdown that put them up 7-6.  Maryland also staved off a late comeback by Temple in Week 2, only to lose to Edsall’s former team, Connecticut, 24-21 last week.Close games are rather foreign to Dana Holgorsen’s Mountaineers.  West Virginia won the 2012 Orange Bowl against Clemson, 70-33, and the offseason has not seemed to slow down their momentum.  In their opening game against in-state rival Marshall, WVU won 69-34, and two weeks later beat FCS James Madison by 30.Holgorsen is a disciple of pass-happy coaches such as Mike Leach and Kevin Sumlin, and has used their Air Raid offense to good effect.  The Mountaineers are currently 2nd in the nation in passing offense while still cracking the top 25 in rushing offense.  Maryland also uses a variant of the spread offense, but it does not seem to be working.  After three games the Terps are 119th in per game passing offense, 102nd in rushing offense, and 99th in points per game.
