Arsenal Transfer News: Higuain On His Way To The Emirates This Week!

on June 18 2013 1:01 AM

Finally, it looks like despite themselves, Arsenal will make a major signing this week as it was revealed that Gonzalo Higuain is set to be Wenger`s first signing this summer. What looked like becoming this summer`s transfer saga, it is now clear that Arsenal are the club which is making moves to sign the player at a fee acceptable to Real Madrid.

Earlier, it was thought that perennial transfer movers and shakers, Juventus, had clinched a deal to pinch the player right from under the noses of Arsenal. However, in a new twist last night, it seems that Real Madrid have turned down an offer from Juventus of around £18m, after telling them that it was not a realistic amount for a player of Higuain`s standing.

Real president Florentino Perez was quoted last week as saying that the Gunners shouldn't bother if they were planning on offering 'only' £25.5m for the 25-year-old. However, sources close to Arsenal have aid that Wenger will start the bidding at around £22m.

Uruguay, Italy or Spain will have the chance to become only the third team, following Argentina and France as the only teams to have won all three major FIFA tournaments: the World Cup, the Olympic football competition, and the Confederations Cup.

Brazil, one of the favorites to win the competition, looks to continue its dominance as it plays host to the rest of the world (Brazil already has one victory in the tournament so far).

Manchester United Step Up Their Attempts To Sign Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo

on June 17 2013 10:37 AM

Reports on Monday suggest that Manchester United are still very much in the hunt to bring back their former player Cristiano Ronaldo, with certain financial implications surrounding the deal.

It had been reported by various press sources in the UK that new Manchester United Boss David Moyes was to engineer a deal for the unsettled Portuguese winger, who has spoke of his unhappiness at Real Madrid at times last season. Speculation about his future at Madrid has continued to grow and Ronaldo himself was quick to deny a recent report that he had signed a new contract with Madrid.

The price could be an issue as the Portuguese International has two years remaining on his contract and it would certainly have to be a big money offer if Madrid would be prepared to let their superstar leave, however if the player is unhappy and wants the move, this could make the difference.
