NBA Draft 2013: Grading the Chicago Bulls’ Draft

Although it was far from the biggest surprise of the 2013 NBA draft, the Chicago Bulls’ first-round pick raised plenty of eyebrows. Armed with a pair of selections in the hunt to build a team that can challenge Miami in the postseason, Chicago appears to have whiffed on at least one of the two.

Here’s a look at both new additions to the Bulls’ roster and what they bring (or fail to bring) to Derrick Rose’s team.

SG Tony Snell, New Mexico (Round 1, No. 20 overall): D+

In principle, Tony Snell checks off most of the boxes the Bulls were expected to look for in their first-round selection. He’s a big shooting guard who can play the 2 or the 3, knock down the three-pointer and play a little defense.

He just doesn’t do any of it all that well.

The New Mexico product is coming from a solid defensive team, but he’s not a playmaker who will force a bunch of turnovers. He’s a good long-range shooter but not a great one, and he’s a dreadful rebounder for his 6’7” height (2.6 boards per game).

Arsenal Transfer News: Lyon Reject €10 Million Gunners Bid For Clement Grenier

Arsenal have had a bid rejected for Lyon attacking midfielder Clement Grenier. French newspaper Le10 reports that Lyon turned down a €10 million offer from the Gunners.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has previously declared his interest in Grenier, according to ESPN.co.uk. The young midfield schemer is a classic Wenger transfer target.

He is a cerebral and versatile playmaker, and plays with a natural quality and near-flawless technique. Wenger has often indulged his fondness for creative, passing attacking midfielders.

The likes of Robert Pires and Cesc Fabregas were major successes in this role. Samir Nasri and Aleksandr Hleb were also key performers, albeit for shorter periods of time.

Wenger still bases Arsenal's style of play on quick and intelligent pass-and-move football. Grenier perfectly fits that style. He can play on the flanks or in the middle, offering the kind of fluidity Wenger demands in midfield.

Manchester United Transfer News: Leighton Baines - Manchester United Have Made A £12m Bid For The Player Today.

on June 27 2013 11:09 AM

It has been confirmed in the last few minutes that David Moyes has made a £12m bid for his former player, Leighton Baines, from Everton. Moyes has been on holiday but has now started to make his moves in the market. He has been partially prompted by interest in Patrice Evra from the two French clubs, PSG and Monaco, both of whom have rich owners. It is understood that Evra is open to a move back to his homeland, especially as his wife has recently aired her views on life in Manchester.

United’s offer will fall short of Everton’s £15m valuation and the Merseyside club will fight hard to keep Baines, who Moyes brought to Goodison from Wigan for £6m in 2007. This also comes only a few days after Baines stated that he was looking forward to working with the new Everton manager, Roberto Martinez, but the lure of working with his old boss at Champions, Manchester United, and playing in the Champions League has proven too much for the loyal Baines to turn down.

Manchester City linked with Lewandowski

Manchester City linked with Lewandowski

According to the Daily Mirror, Manchester City are interested in signing long-term Manchester United target Robert Lewandowski.

The ESPN reports that Carlos Tevez's transfer to Juventus "paves the way" for City to table an "irrestible bid" for the Poland international.

Lewandowski was in breathtaking form last season, scoring 36 goals for Borussia Dortmund in just 48 appearances. His four-goal heroics against Real Madrid in the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League intensified the interest of several European clubs, including City.

The 24-year-old was set to join Dortmund's rivals Bayern Munich but his club's chiefs rejected the move.

Now Dortmund risk losing Lewandowski for nothing next summer, when the striker's contract expires. Hence, if City do manage to come up with a decent offer, the former German champions may allow their prized asset to hold talks with the Sky Blues.

PSG have looked and looked and they have found a new manager for the French team via Twitter. @PSG_inside "Paris Saint-Germain is delighted to announce the appointment of Laurent Blanc as coach for the next two years." Real Madrid have also confirmed via Twitter that they have signed Ancelotti for three years. Real Madrid C.F @realmadriden "Carlo Ancelotti has signed his contract with Real Madrid.

Real Madrid

Carlo Ancelotti was finally confirmed as coach of Real Madrid on Tuesday and the former Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and AC Milan boss will now set about building his team at the Santiago Bernabeu for the 2013-14 season. The Italian, however, is not a man for revolutions.

Ancelotti has used a number of different systems throughout his career as coach, including 4-4-2 at Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea, 4-3-2-1 at AC Milan and even a three-man defence at Juventus. More than a favoured formation, though, Ancelotti adapts adeptly to his surroundings and the players at his disposal like few other coaches and the Italian seems unlikely to alter Madrid's 4-2-3-1.
