Barcelona and Spanish International striker David Villa is wanted by both Arsenal and Tottenham. Another London club had also been interested in making a move in the shape of Europa League Champions Chelsea, but it looks like their interests is based elsewhere with Napoli's Edinson Cavani being top of the agenda.

Allegedly it is now a two horse race for the 31-year-old technically gifted forward, who is drawing near to the end of his reign with the Spanish giants. Tottenham were apaparent favourites to sign Villa but it has emerged that Arsene Wengers Arsenal are in close contention . The Emirates club have almost aqcuired the capture of Real Madrid sensation Gonzalo Higuain but Wenger wants to add even more fire power up top and is also chasing Manchester United and England forward, Wayne Rooney.

Villa has one year remaining on his Barcelona contract and will be available on a free next summer, but it is thought that The Catalans will allow him to leave for under £10 million, which could be low enough for both London clubs to make their moves now. Atletico Madrid have also shown interest in Villa, to replace the departed Radamel Falcao, who signed for Monaco earlier this summer. But Villa's agent suggested that his client would prefer a move away from La Liga now, with the Premier League being his top choice.

Villa is an incredible talent and still has so much to offer, he comes off the back of a great career to offer experience, finesse, skill, work rate and a top all round player. He once again proved his worth turning out for Spain against Tahit on Thursday evening, scoring a hat-trick for his National side.
