Arsene Wenger has now brought in three significant signings this off-season, and he is slowly turning Arsenal into a potential candidate to challenge for the English Premier League. On the offensive side of the ball, with or without Robin van Persie, Arsenal can be extremely dangerous. They now have a mixture of speed, technical ability and even experience to top it all off.
Out wide they have Theo Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Gervinho and even Cazorla who can provide pace and width to the Arsenal attack. Ryo Miyaichi and Andrey Arshavin may also be options, but their future at the club has yet to be decided.
Adding firepower up front such as Podolski and Giroud will be an all around benefit to Arsenal in many aspects. From the experience to their footballing abilities, the three new signings can bring a lot to the table.
One last investment that Wenger may consider before the start of the season would be bolstering his back line. With the return of Kyle Bartley, Arsenal has in him a solid option for their second tier lineup. The English defender is just 21 years-old and could certainly play a big role in Arsenal's future.
Many will criticize Wenger constantly, but the truth is that Wenger has balanced the books better than anyone and is now finally spending some money. Having majored in economics, Le Professeur may well know his finances, although it feels like it took an eternity for him to make things happen.
Was it the potential departure of Robin van Persie and his unwillingness to re-sign a new contract with Arsenal? We may never know the answer to that question, but the truth is that Wenger appears to be on the track back to success. Those glory days of Highbury that so many Arsenal fans wish they could re-live, could soon finally be on their way to the Emirates.
A healthy squad for Arsenal will not only be an upgrade from last season, but they will also have a significant amount of depth. Could this be the year that Arsene Wenger finally brings back some silverware to the hands of Arsenal?
