Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger claims he had no choice but to sell the Dutch striker Robin Van Persie to Manchester United. Selling his top player to the team which is a part of Premier league has created a bit of dissatisfaction within a few Arsenal fans

Wenger revealed he is not in a mood to find a replacement for Van Persie after having already brought in Lukas Podolski, Olivier Giroud and Santi Cazorla this summer.

Speaking about replacement for Van Persie, Wenger said "We already recruited to replace him."

"We have already recruited since we bought Giroud and Podolski, who originally were intended to offset the departure of Van Persie. I'd have preferred to sell him abroad, to PSG, for example, over Manchester United." Wenger went on to add.

Meanwhile Belgian defender Thomas Vermaelen insists the club must put the departure of their former skipper behind them and focus on new season. Vermaelen is now likely to inherit the captain's armband.

"He was fantastic for us in the last year, scored lots of goals and I am disappointed he is going, but we have to focus on the next season with Arsenal"

"We have to fight and I am confident we have a squad to win something. We start Saturday and this is all clear now, Robin is leaving and we have to move on"  Vermaelen said.

The departure of Van Persie is a big loss for the club as it might dent Arsenal's title hope this season with the likes United and Chelsea already strengthening their sqaud in the current summer transfer and Manchester CIty already having a very good squad. However Wenger feels his side has got the depth in order to compete with the top teams to battle for the prestigious Premier League Title.
