Arsenal Transfer News: 5 Players The Gunners Should Target This Summer

I have watched Arsene Wenger transfer activities in every transfer windows and it all led me to one concrete concluison, “too many rumors and in the end none of them really happened, or other clubs will snap it from them.” Its lucky for Arsenal that they could snap Podolski, Cazorla and Giroud from the last summer transfer window, but look at how many players Arsenal were ‘keeping an eye’ at, Ibrahim Afellay (Now loaned out to Schalke), Lewis Holtby ( Joined Tottenham), Nuri Sahin (snapped by Liverpool and now sent to Dortmund), Kevin Grosskreutz, Demba Ba (Joined Chelsea), Daniel Sturridge (Joined Liverpool), Mathieu Debuchy ( Joined newcastle), Jan Verthongen (joined Tottenham) I could go on and on with the list. But now let’s the past be the past and look ahead, for the summer transfer window 2013. Who should Arsenal sign next summer? I have shortlisted 5 best rumoured-to-Arsenal-players for Wenger and  now let’s take a look at it.

1.       Edin Dzeko

Not being the first choice is simply unacceptable for Edin Dzeko. Although now, he gets more chances from Mancini and Balotelli is out to AC Milan, seems like life won’t get easier on this guy. Manchester city stated that they will pursue Isco and Falcao’s signatures next summer and this means one thing for Dzeko, you’re not the first choice *again*. Arsene Wenger has shown real interest for Dzeko, and without no doubt Dzeko will be a really great addition to the squad.  According to Dzeko has scored 30 goals in 74 appearances for City, while 32 appearances were coming from the bench. Dzeko is an all-round forward, he is fast, good ball keeping and good aerial ability, what’s not to love?

2.       Etienne Capoue

Arsenal have been lacking a great anchor since Alex Song left. Wenger knows that this will be crucial, because basically, Arsenal pattern started from winning the ball in the midfield, which was Song job while he was still at Arsenal, pass it on to the winger or the side backs and then start the passing from there. That’s why he keeps an eye on the 24-years old Etienne Capuoe. Capoue completes all the requirements to be the next Arsenal defensive midfielder, he is versatile, his physical strength is no joke and he is pretty good with distributing the ball. He also could play as a defender if needed, so basically, Capoue is just a player  Arsenal needs. Wenger does know best, he has been observing this guy from 2011, but will you make an early move for him while Barcelona and Chelsea is also keeping an eye on this guy?

3.       Michel Vorm

According to  CalcioMercato, Wenger wants to bring Vorm to Emirates. But, why Vorm? Here's why. Michael Vorm has helped Swansea to retain their current spot. With only conceded 27 goals from 23 matches, they are on the same number with Arsenal, conceded 27 goals from 23 matches, with additional note that Arsenal defender is way better than Swansea, of course, Vermaelen and Ashley williams? Bacary Sagna and Angel Rangel? Koscielny and Chico? With those names, Szczesny should have a better statistic. We could definietly see that Vorm is better than Szczesny. With Vito Mannone rumors of coming back to his hometown, Italy, either for AC Milan or Napoli, Vorm will be a good replacement. He is strong and have a really good determination plus decision taking which Szczesny lacks. A lot.

4.       Dimitri Payet

Instead of taking this guy, Wenger goes with Gervinho. And earlier this season, Wenger once again come back to the market and look for another winger, many names were mentioned, like Kevin Grosskreutz, Wilfried Zaha, Arda Turan, and once again Dimitri payet was among them. Wenger has stated that he is more than interested to sign this guy, while Gervinho couldn’t live up to Wenger expectation, this guy keeps proving that he is no second class. Payet has scored 7 goals and giving 8 assists with 26 appearances.  Which with those 7 goals, he is the current top scorer for Lille. He is not as fast as Gervinho but he is definetly better than him when it comes to pass.  His passing, shoot and dribbling is what makes him one of the best wingers in Ligue 1 and with that quality, he is more than a good transfer for Arsenal.

5.       Toby Alderweireld

We should say that Arsenal defense is one of the worst in the premier league. Remember how easy it is for a club Bradford calibre to steal 2 goals from us? It is simply unacceptable. Wenger has acknowledged how fragile his defense is, so last summer he tried to lure Verthongen from Ajax to come to London, well, Verthongen did come to London actually, but to their nemesis, Tottenham Hotspurs. And now, Wenger once again come to Ajax and declare his interest to bring Alderweireld out from Ajax. Another great defender we have here! His decision taking and his vision is really good, WhoScored also stated that he is a player with most of Aerials won presentation for Ajax. With all his quality I think it is a really good move If Wenger could snap this belgian boy out of Ajax. Instead of Vermaelen-Mertesacker I think I’d love Vermalen-Alderweireld more.
