According to the Guardian, Arsenal are planning a bid for Swansea vice-captain, Ashley Williams in the summer who is valued at £8m.

The Gunners' back four - especially Thomas Vermaelen - have been making a lot of defensive errors, costing them in crucial games such as the weekend's north London derby loss to Tottenham. Wenger may be hoping Williams is the man to shore up his defense as well as lead by example in the dressing room.

Arsenal will face competition from Liverpool, who have also drawn interest in Williams. The 28-year-old has had a great season so far, having notably lifted the Capital One Cup. The Welshman has made a huge step up both performance and division-wise, having played in all four professional divisions in England.
