Nuri Sahin is just hours away from signing for Arsenal on loan, according to The Express among others.

With Alex Song departing for Barcelona, Arsene Wenger is looking for Sahin to fill the void.

To say he's moved quickly would be a ridiculous statement, as it seems this deal has been in the pipeline for several weeks.

Only the haggling over the percentage of wages Arsenal pay were reported to be the hold up initially, but subsequently Liverpool became clear favourites.

Now the ball is back in Arsenal's court and Song-less Wenger would be wise to wrap this one up quickly.

With the addition of Sahin, Arsenal are darkhorses for the title. Song was let go and Arsenal cited "laziness and lethargy" as a key reason for his departure.

No such criticisms can be thrown at Sahin, who even appeared at left-back for Real Madrid in preseason.
