Another day goes by, and with it, yet more speculation. Along with the usual, (M'Vila, Robin Van Persie) being involved, along popped the relatively new faces of:
IBTimes reports that Arsenal could be forced into a similar situation as van Persie with England international Theo Walcott. With just a year left on his contract, talks have been put on hold while he is on international duty, but according to the Mirror, Chelsea is ready to pounce. However, I honestly don't seem him signing a contract with anyone other than the Gunners.
Blackburn's versatile attacking midfielder has been long linked with Arsenal, however reports from the Times say that he's set to join Borussia Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga. I seriously doubt we'd sign him, not that he wouldn't be a decent signing. Prove me wrong AW.
A vital cog in the Arsenal machine today has been offered an improved contract offer, said to be for approximately four years, but for at least £20,000 more each week. Nothing official has been disclosed yet, however it is common knowledge between journalists and fans alike, with many websites including the BBC picking up on this already. I think a pay rise is very much in order for the Arsenal mid fielder, without his major contributions I don't think the Gunners would be where they are today. He is definitely one of the most under rated players at the club.
Arsenal appears to be re-entering the race to sign Crewe's highly rated Nick Powell. Manchester United has long been favorites to snap up the 18-year-old midfielder, but Arsenal is also still pursuing an interest, according to the Daily Mail.
Powell snagged a clean sweep of the club's end of season awards as Crewe earned promotion, via the playoffs, from League Two last season. He has been widely valued at £4 million, although the Mail says that the figure could instead be closer to the £10 million mark. For a player untested outside of the Football League basement, it is a price unlikely to be paid by any club, let alone Arsenal.
The player that I believe would benefit Arsenal the most is one of the most well known names between Gooners around the world now, and that's Yann M'Vila. I've said it before and I will say it again, he is exactly what they are looking for. A decent holding midfielder, a player to keep everyone in check, as well as making some game saving tackles, M'Vila has also contributed to many game winning goals at his current club Rennes. He recently spoke to the press however, and said that whatever negotiations were to be made, would have to wait after until after the Euros.
This international competition seems to be proving a barrier in the Arsenals road to victory, as talks with van Persie are being held up as well. However, it may be good in this case, should conversation spark up between M'Vila and Koscielny on the subject of Arsenals' rise. I'd put my house on anything Koscielny says to be 100% positive. However, we will have to wait and see what August (and Wenger) brings.
