According to reports, Arsenal will make a bid this month for 17-year-old prospect, Luke Shaw of Southampton and his performance against the Gunners showed exactly why manager, Arsene Wenger is interested in the young English left-back.
Southampton manager, Nigel Adkins recently responded to speculation about £5m rated, Shaw, "I think Luke gets linked every week with Arsenal, doesn't he? Luke is under contract, he is playing football for us in the Premier League, which is important. We are not looking to let him go anywhere if anyone wants to come in for any of our players, by all means speak to the chairman. He does the deals and all the best with that."
According to the Daily Mail, Wenger and his chief scout, Steve Rowley have made Shaw a priority after being impressed with his performances as the youngster has been tipped to be even better than ex-Southampton player, Gareth Bale - who is now at Tottenham.
With all the speculation, Shaw faced Arsenal on Jan 1st, 2013 and put in a stunning performance, going forward well, causing trouble and doing a good job keeping Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain - another ex-Southampton man - fairly quiet. The youngster then took to Twitter, "So unlucky not to get 3 points today, but against a great team like Arsenal, I thought everyone was quality."
Arsenal may have dropped points at St. Mary's, but they can be sure that Shaw - who may not be able to resist the advances of Arsenal - is well worth the money as he is destined for greatness and an England cap could be coming very soon if he keeps going this way.988764
