Arsene Wenger has been extremely busy this summer. So far he's acquired Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski, looks set to seal Santi Cazorla soon and is now in for Nuri Sahin.
The Real Madrid midfielder has been told by Jose Mourinho he's free to go out on loan this season considering the squad depth available at central midfield.
Here's why Sahin is an incredible acquisition should Wenger secure the transfer.
According to WhoScored?, Sahin's last season at Borussia Dortmund saw him lay on the most goalscoring opportunities for team mates across the league.
The figure, a staggering 104, shows he knows where to put the ball for a striker to latch on to and score. With Jack Wilshere injured until October, Arsenal need creativity in the centre of the park.
Replacement for Alex Song?
Rumours are abound that Barcelona want defensive midfielder Song, and if the Catalan club want someone, they usually get them.
Sahin and Song can play a similar deep-lying role, only it's arguable that Sahin is tidier and more creative despite Song's breakthrough season last year.
The fee for Song is estimated at £16 million by The Sun, so to sell for that and gain Sahin on loan is good business.
If Song leaves, Wenger will be looking at Aaron Ramsey and Mikel Arteta to lead his midfield. That's a tidy, safe midfield but it's no world-beating combination.
With the moves Arsenal are making and considering Robin van Persie is still at the club, Wenger's team are fast emerging as dark horses for the title. Sahin's acquisition will only enhance Arsenal's chances of improving on last season's results.
