In what turned out to be one of the less eventful matches at Villa Park, the Gunners left in a somewhat downbeat attitude, after being held to a 0-0 draw by the home side.
It must be said, however, that after playing in the Champions League just three days prior, Arsene had opted to rest quite a few regular names on the team sheet, and send out a heavily rotated Arsenal side. The first half was really a two sided game, with chances coming from both Villa and Arsenal. A goal was disallowed from a free kick (conceded by Szcezny after the Referee deemed that Arsenal’s number 1 was handling the ball out of his area).
The second half however swung heavily in Arsenal’s favour, although the Gunners couldn’t capitalise on the chances that presented themselves, quite openly.
Arsenal managed to pull a point away from this point, but will certainly be hoping for the 3 points when they face Everton at Goodison Park on Wednesday.861172
