The bible story of the prodigal son best describes Nuri Sahin situation. Only just 19 months after making the dream move to Real Madrid, he is back to where he started his professional career. Nuri Sahin has signed a long term loan deal that will keep him till 2013/14 with an option of buying back from Real Madrid. Sahin is a local boy and he is pretty much at home with Dortmund, He is going back to a club he is familiar with. He started his career with Dortmund at the age of 16 making him the youngest Bundesliga debutant; he scored his first goal for Dortmund the same year making him the youngest goal scorer in the Bundesliga. He has been a ball boy for club, so he has been very much around the club apart from his loan spell with Feyenoord.
His arrival would give Jurgen Klopp the option of rotating and resting players particularly for their European games. According to the club Sporting Director Michael Zorc, He would be registered to play in the Champions League as he is eligible. Nuri Sahin has been very keen to join the club back - He stated that he could not sleep due to the excitement of rejoining the club he joined as a youth. Nuri Sahin made the dream move to Real Madrid for €10 million but was sideline most of that season due to injury. At the end of last season he moved to Liverpool on loan but could only manage 7 games.
It was agreed to end the loan spell and after an agreement had been reached with Real Madrid, the loan deal was secured. It was always going to be a tall order breaking into a team comprising Mezut Ozil, Semi Khedira and Xavi Alonso. Sahin had to take a pay cut from what he earned at Santiago Bernabau. One could asked what could be the motivation of moving to a top club, ostensibly the pay rise, opportunity to win laurels and play regularly at the highest level. But a case must be made for how realistic it would be for aspiring players like Sahin to break into such top teams, sometimes player are better suited for a particular club, Sahin case might just be a classic example, but on the other hand he must have looked up to Ozil who made the move to Real Madrid from another German club Werder Bremen and fancy his chances.
