Chelsea Beats Tottenham: Magical Mata Proves The Difference In 4-2 Win Over Spurs

Despite Andre Villas Boas insisting that this was not a grudge match against his former employers, everybody associated with the game certainly wanted to see what the outcome of the match would be. Chelsea managed to win the match 4-2 thanks to Juan Mata, the Spanish playmaker in scintillating form this season. Mata scored twice in two minutes after Spurs had lead Chelsea 2-1. Chelsea were the brighter of two sides and they got their noses in front thanks to a sweet volley scored by Gary Cahill. The first half was all Chelsea and Villas Boas would have asked more of his players. More was what he got from his players after they scored twice in quick succession to lead Chelsea 2-1. It wad all Mata after that. Two well taken goals put Chelsea back in the lead. To his credit, Villas Boas complimented Chelsea's famed attacking third of Oscar, Hazard and Mata. He would have wished he had the services of Gareth Bale though. But the night belonged to Juan Mata. Spanish national team coach Vicente Del Bosque said it was difficult to accomodate Mata in the Spanish set up given the quality they possess. Mata has scored 3 goals and contributed 5 assists in last five matches. He has been at the heart of the attacking displays Chelsea have shown this season. Cries for Mata's comeback into the Spanish side are surely not far away. With their Manchester rivals both winning their matches, Chelsea lead the premier league season by 4 points after 8 games. This wonderfully sets up next weekend's super clash at home with Manchester United for Chelsea. May the best team win then.
