Chelsea supporters have recieved the positive news they were awaiting on Tuesday afternoon, when it was confirmed that there club captain John Terry, is poised to return from his long term injury, in an Under-21 match against Fulham.
November 11th seems a long time ago for Blues fans, the last time they saw there beloved captain make an appearence in the Blue shirt. It was a match against Liverpool and Terry went down in agony after an accidental clash with Luis Suarez. Terry stayed down, and was to miss the next two months with knee ligament injury.
The next as they say, was history. Chelsea began leaking goals and suffered a dip in form without the influential figure of Terry at the heart of the defence. The slip saw them get knocked out of the Champions League and slip from top of the league, to fourth. The lack of form cannot be treated as purely coincidence, Terry has been a key figure in the Chelsea line up for over the last decade and a half, take him out of the side and they visibly suffer.
Chelsea Manager Rafael Benitez has confirmed that Terry will make his return to action against Fulham on Thursday evening, in an Under-21 match. And what a prospect that will be for the young team mates of Terry, who will have a rare opportunity to line up alongside such a cult club figure.
Benitez went on to confirm that if the match goes well, Terry is likely to be in the Squad for the Stoke match on Saturday and will most probably feature at some stage.
This will certainly be welcomed as much as a big new signing at The Bridge as Terry has been described previously as a four man player. Benitez will be relieved to get his captain back, as the pressure grows from the Chelsea Board for his side to be successful in the remaining competitions this season.796245
