Chelsea drew against Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on 3rd Nov. 2012. The game was largely a drab affair in terms of goal-mouth action and Pablo Hernandez equalised near the end of full-time to cancel out a Victor Moses header earlier in the game.
A team that consisted of Eden Hazard and Oscar was expected to break the Swan's passing game with passing superiority of their own. But the game largely passed by a majority of Chelsea players. Chelsea have played a lot of games in quick succession but that is the price to pay for being European Champions, with a packed fixture list that awaits the winners of Europe's elite club competition.
Swansea hung in there and exploited Chelsea's defensive frailties once again. Chelsea never got going and seemed out of interest in the game. This game also highlighted an important fact. Despite the plaudits that Oscar and Hazard have garnered for their creative displays, it is the diminutive Spaniard, Juan Mata, that keeps the team ticking. His tally of 4 goals and 5 assists this season proves that he is not just a creative player, he is a decisive one too.
Roberto Di Matteo would dearly hope that Mata would regain his fitness to take his place in Chelsea's line-up in a crunch Champions League home game against Shakhtar Donetsk.859590
