On Friday it has been reported via The Mirror that Chelsea officials are in talks with Marseille in an attempt to bring in striker Loic Remy, in a last minute deadline day move.
Remy has been linked with both Chelsea and Tottenham but has revealed that talks with Spurs broke down, thus sparking claims that he is now talking to Chelsea regarding a move to Stamford Bridge.
The 25-year-old French international would be available for £15 million and with Chelsea frantically searching for a new striker to bolster the thin looking front line, Remy is seen as an ideal target.
The twists and turns of the exciting deadline day are in full swing and with the Chelsea squad and coaching staff in Monaco getting set to play in The Super Cup, their negotiators are working over time attempting to secure a deal.
Remy is a goal scoring powerful forward who offers great pace. Featuring 17 times at international level for France, he has more than proven his worth during his early years. Clocking up almost 70 goals in just 187 senior appearences in his career, he holds an impressive record.
Chelsea are looking for another striker to give them more options after losing both Didier Drogba, who joined Shangai, and Romelu Lukaku, who has gone on loan to West Brom. With their current squad rotation system, their is plenty of game time up for grabs for Remy, should he sign today.
The 11pm (UK time) deadline is drawing closer and any negotiations will need to progress now.
