Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich will have to improve his tabled offer of £11 million if he is to land Brazilian midfielder Taison during this transfer window.
It has been widely reported on Monday that The European Champions were close to signing the 24-year-old Ukranian Premier League player, but The Daily Mail have since suggested that his club Matalist Kharkiv, have given Chelsea a deadline day which is this Wednesday, to come back with a higher offer if they wish to land their target.
The player himself had already confirmed that he had met with Abramovich after the Russian billionaire invited him to watch a recent Chelsea match, on his brief trip to London. Terms have been agreed between the player and the London club and a work permit has been attained. But it is the fee that seems to be keeping the Brazilian from his dream move and joining fellow country men David Luiz, Oscar Dos Santos, Ramires and Lucas Piazon, who are already making names for themselves at Stamford Bridge.
Tasion is an attacking midfielder who has yet to be capped for his national side. He also has the ability to play as a striker or a winger and is said to have been on Chelsea's radar for some time now. Along with that, he is said to be good friends of Oscar and has expressed his desire to play alongside his pal once again, as they did during their time at Internacional.
The Blues have already begun their winter spending spree in the January sales, having acquired Newcastle hitman Demba Ba for around £7.5 million. The Senegalese striker went on to complete a dream debut for the Blues, scoring twice in the FA Cup Third round victory against Southampton on Saturday.
Abramovich and his advisors will now make a decision as to wether they wish to increase their offer and make the signing official by Wednesday this week.997820
