According to the French press, Chelsea are expected to tie up the signing of Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini, within 72 hours, meaning that the Belgium International will be a Blues player by early next week.
There has been various reports around the British, French and Belgium media suggesting that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is prepared to fork out the £25 million needed to activate a release clause on Fellaini. The latest report suggests that the deal will be completed sooner rather than later.
Fellaini has been wanted by The European Champions for two seasons now and it was expected that he would be joining the London club at the end of this season, but it seems that Abramovich and his Chelsea officials are desperate to tie up a deal during this months transfer window, that will see Fellaini join a struggling Chelsea side.
Rafa Benitez's men were beaten 2-0 at home against Swansea in the Capital One Cup on Wednesday evening sparking outrage from supporters. Abramovich demands success and is results driven, he wants to bolster his midfield, add some strength and another match winner in the shape of Fellaini. Having already added a goal scorer up front with Demba Ba, it is thought that they want one or two more players this window.
The 25-year-old Belgium has the ability to play anywhere in midfield or as a target man. Being very good in the air and having an eye for goal, makes him very appealing for what Chelsea want.
Everton Manager David Moyes has maintained that he wants to keep Fellaini and will surely do everything in his powers to keep hold of their star man, but it seems as if the Stamford Bridge club are about to make an offer they cannot refuse.
