Chelsea Transfer News: Chelsea Want Barcelona Whizz Kid Gerard Deulofeu In £8 Million Raid

The European Champions are weighing up a move for highly rated Barcelona youth player, Gerard Deulofeu, according to The Daily Express.

Chelsea have been scouting the Spanish youth international since he was 16-years-old and are now ready to move in with an £8 million offer in the January transfer window. Barcelona currently have the player on a youth contract, which means any negotiations for the deal would be easier for the Blues, with Barcelona likely to request a buy-back clause in his contract.

Deulofeu is highly reagrded amongst Spanish football pundits and has a big future ahead. He mainly operates out on the left wing, but can play anyhwere across the front line. He has only made two senior appearances for the Barcelona first team but has featured 39 times for Barcelona B since 2010, scoring 13 goals in the process. 

He also holds an impressive record at international youth level, having played for every Spanish youth level from under-16's up to the under-21s and has managed 45 appearances throughout. Deulofeu is a proud product of the infamous Barcelona youth system, joining the club when he was just 9-years-old. 

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is prepared to fork out the cash for the talented youngster off the back of several scouting missions. With the masses of talent at Barcelona currently, it will be tempting for the youngster to make the switch and follow in the footsteps of Oriol Romeu, who also made the move from Barcelona to Chelsea with there being more chance of breaking through into the first team.

With the January transfer window only a few months away now, it is Chelsea who are once again looking to be the busiest Premier League club.
