Reports emerging from French press on Thursday claiming that Chelsea are ready to officially announce the signing of Marseille right back Cesar Azpilicueta. The fee and terms have been agreed with the player signing on a 4-year deal.

The fee is around £8 million for the Spanish international plus added bonuses for appearences. Azpilciueta has been the focus of Chelsea's search for a new right back to replace the departed Jose Bosingwa and the deal is expected to be announced officially by Chelsea by the weekend.

Azpilicueta is a 22-year-old Spanish international who has come through the Spanish coaching ranks along with a wealth of talent. The player is both good at attacking and defending and has caught the eye of many european clubs, with Chelsea emerging as the players favoured choice.

Marseille and Chelsea have been negotiating a deal for sometime now and the French club were more than willing to sell the defender. They are looking to build on their own squad and are likely to cash in on a few more players this summer.

For a 22-year-old Azpilicueta carries bags of experience in senior football featuring 126 times for Osasuna and 45 times for Marseille since he began in 2006. He doesn't score many but is the type of full back who likes to get forward and create chances for others.

Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo needed some re-inforcements on the right side of his defence with defender Branislav Ivanovic stating he'd rather play as a centre back and he feels it is an area that needs strengthening. Azpilicueta has been scouted by Chelsea officials for sometime now and it looks as if they have finally got their man.
