Chelsea Transfer News: Javier Hernandez Could Be The Answer To Chelsea's Striker Shortage

Reigning European Champions Chelsea have been heavily linked with Athletico Madrid forward, Radamel Falcao and there are sources reporting that he will be moving to London during the January transfer window.

Of course, there could be complications and rival clubs will also look to move for Falcao, if this is the case, Chelsea will surely have other options in mind to fill their current striker void at Stamford Bridge.

Currently playing the season with only two recognised central strikers, Chelsea are weighing up their options to bring in another body at the next available chance, during the January transfer window. An option who has been linked with Chelsea before is Manchester United's goal poaching striker, Javier Hernandez.

The Mexican international has been forced to sit on the bench during the majority of his United career, even more so recently after the arrival of Robin Van Persie from Arsenal. There has been reports out today via the English media claiming that Hernandez will be used as bate to lure potential targets from Real Madrid in January, thus once again bringing up fresh rumours that the 24-year-old will be leaving Old Trafford.

There is no doubt that Falcao is Chelsea's main target, but if something did go wrong with that deal, then the Blues will look at the possibility of bringing in the prolific finishing abilities of Hernandez. He offers a great scoring record, pace and a real eye for goal that would be an asset to Chelsea in a season when they look to use squad rotation in many competitions.

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson had previously stated his desire to keep hold of Hernandez, but there is only a matter of time before a player of that calibre will become restless only being used as a backup player, there will be more game time available at Chelsea with less competition.

Meanwhile, Chelsea's left back Ashley Cole could well be in trouble with the English FA, after seeming to aim frustrated comments towards the FA via his Twitter account in the wake of the John Terry trial. Cole could well end up facing a fine and a lengthy ban, with Ryan Bertrand ready to step in too his boots.
