Reports surrounding Radamel Falcao's proposed move to Chelsea in January have grown on the back of South American sources claiming that the player will join Chelsea in January.

Falcao's own father has also all but confirmed this when answering the question, will he be playing in the Premier League come January? he simply replied with 'it is very likely'.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is ready to match the Colombian international's release clause, said to be around €55 million, in order to land the prolific goal scoring machine.

Having just watched Falcao humilate his Chelsea side during Athletico Madrid's recent 4-1 drumming over the European Champions, the saying goes 'if you can't beat them, sign them'. It looks set that this is what he is about to do.

Working in Chelsea's favour is the fact that Falcao is partly owned by Jorge Mendes, who is a 'super-agent' and the founder of Gestifute. Mendes has a good strong relationship with Chelsea football club and has an influence over transfers going in.

Former Chelsea players that he has represented before now include Deco, Tiago, Ricardo Carvalho, Ricardo Quaresma, Paulo Ferreira, Jose Bosingwa, Mancihe and Raul Meireles.

Falcao offers an immense array of talents, making him a world class all round striker. He's good in the air and with the ball at his feet, a very good target man. You can't really compare him to Chelsea's current number nine Fernando Torres, they're different type of strikers. But one thing's for sure, if Falcao does arrive in January, it will certainly make Torres unsettled again.

Chelsea did attempt to make a last minute effort to sign Falcao before the window closed in August, but with complications regarding Madrid not wanting him to leave, the deal now has to wait until January, when Chelsea look set to pull off one of the greatest transfer coups of our time.
