According to Tribalfootball, Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo has recently sent his scouting team to watch a Serie A encounter between Napoli and Sampdoria, Napoli won the game by a goal to nil.

The scouting assignment was to watch three Sampdoria players, Nenad Krsticic, Roberto Soriano and Pedro Obiang as Di Matteo continues his Chelsea transition.

Krsticic is a Serbian Under-21 international who plays as a midfielder. The 22-year-old has featured 19 times for Sampdoria since joining from OFK Beograd in 2008.

Soriano is a 21-year-old Italian Under-21 international and has featured at every youth level for Italy. He resides from Bayern Munich's youth team but has been at Sampdoria since 2010 and has recently broke into the first team. He enjoyed a successful loan spell with Empoli in 2011 where he made 27 appearances, scoring two goals. He is an exciting midfield player who has started to catch the eye of the bigger clubs recently.

Obiang is also a target for Manchester City, who have been scouting the 20-year-old Spanish youth international as well. Also a midfielder, Obiang hails from Athletico Madrid's youth ranks before he was picked up by Sampdoria in 2008. He then played his trade in the youth team before breaking through into the first team in style in 2010, and has since become a regular for the Serie A side. Although being a Spanish youth international, due to his family roots he also qualifies to play for Gabon and was called up for a youth match previously, but he ended up not playing.

Reports suggest that Chelsea had been impressed by Obiang the most during their scouting missions, that involved watching a number of games, but it is yet to be confirmed whether they are prepared to battle with Manchester City to sign the highly rated hot prospect.

Chelsea face Norwich City on Saturday afternoon in the Premier League, with a 3pm kick off at their London home, Stamford Bridge. Di Matteo will be looking to get another vital 3 points as they sit comfortably on top of the league table at current.
