According to reports, Chelsea have joined a growing list of clubs that are keeping a watchful eye on the situation involving wanted Crystal Palace forward, Wilfried Zaha.

Chelsea are targetting a number of strikers with their number one priority being Athletico Madrid's Radamel Falcao. Yet, there is speculation that the £45 million price tag for the 26-year-old Colombian might well be forcing them to keep their options open.

Currently watching Marseille's Loic Remy and Bayer Leverkusen's Andre Schurrle as cheaper options, it has emerged that they are also keeping a keen eye on Zaha, who is currently away on England Under-21 international duty.

However, the 19-year-old is one of the hottest properties in Europe at the moment and is a very sought after player, Chelsea join a queue of clubs looking to move for him including Tottenham, Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool. Chelsea will be greeted by much competition if they decide to pursue a move in January.

It is said that Zaha would be the subject of an £11 million move, although Crystal Palace boss Dougie Freedman has been quoted stating that he is worth much more than that. The player himself has been coy on his own future, stating that he'd prefer to concerntrate on his England duties for now.

With Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich seeking to build a world class young squad, Zaha might well prove to be a popular choice for the Russian Billionaire. Rated very highly amongst pundits and media in the UK, the young forward is on the brink of breaking in to the big time.

Zaha was born in the Ivory Coast, but moved to England with his parents and has been at Crystal Palace since 2009. He has appeared 94 times for Palace, scoring 11 goals along the way.
