Chelsea's January Shortlist: Five Main Targets - Neymar, Ronaldo, Falcao, Fellaini, Yanga-Mbiwa

When you look at a list of players that contain the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar and Radamel Falcao, you know you are either looking at the starting line up for a team such as Barcelona, or a list of players who are wanted by ambitious Chelsea billionaire owner, Roman Abramovich.

With the summer transfer window closing just a week a go, Abramovich has already been working on his next transfer targets. Although to the dismay of Chelsea supporters, I am afraid you won't be seeing Ronaldo turn out in the same Chelsea team as Eden Hazard, Juan Mata, Radamel Falcao and Neymar. That won't happen.

But, with that said, Abramovich is certainly tracking all three superstar players in an attempt to bring in one of them in January, but not all of them.

Chelsea officials and negotiating staff are already working on planning to bring in new signings in January and the above players are the five main players on their wish list. Let's take a look them.

Neymar

The Brazilian wizard wants to play in Europe, preferably in the Premier League. He has good friends at Chelsea and would be tempted by a move to the European Champions. One of the hottest prospects in the world at the moment, there would be no surprise if he joined his good friend Oscar Dos Santos at Chelsea, although this one may have to wait until the summer, January might be too soon for Neymar. Chelsea will also need to fight off La Liga giants Barcelona, who want Neymar but couldn't compete with Chelsea financially.

Radamel Falcao

Falcao is a goal scoring extraordinaire, complete with all the abilities that make him one of the best all round strikers in the world right now. Although recently stating that he is happy at Athletico Madrid, his father and other good reports suggest otherwise. There are even reports in South America suggesting that a deal is already in place for Falcao to join Chelsea in January. Naturally though, Falcao is playing this all down as he still needs to support of the Madrid fans, for now.

Cristiano Ronaldo

Clearly unhappy at Real Madrid, there has been various reports suggesting that Roman Abramovich is ready to battle Manchester City in January, to pull off one of his biggest and most expensive signings since he bought the London club. He is possibly one of their main targets.

Marouane Fellaini

This Belgium international has been on Chelsea's shortlist for two seasons and now with the severe lack of deep lying midfielders Chelsea now own, it is expected that a move for Fellaini is imminent in January. He is thought to be Chelsea's second main target in the next window.

Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa

With captain marvellous John Terry not getting any younger and David Luiz getting even more unreliable, Chelsea are now looking for more options at the back. Highly rated France international Yanga-Mbiwa is now the subject of a scouting mission by Chelsea officials. Expect an offer to be made for the 23-year-old defender in January.

So Chelsea are setting high standards for their next pursuits, the excitement is already gathering amongst Chelsea supporters and belief that they might well see one of the worlds best attacking players arrive at Chelsea this January.
