EPL News: Top 5 Premier League Player Rankings: Patrice Evra Shows His Class In 2-1 Victory

5) Edin Dzeko – The Bosnian scored City’s second goal in their 2-0 victory over Arsenal. Once again Dzeko has shown why he is more than just a super sub. He can pull his own weight whilst playing against the top teams. He’s out to prove that he doesn’t want to leave City and that Mancini shouldn’t be bringing in any new strikers such as Cavani or Falcao. But I’m afraid Dzeko will always play second fiddle to Tevez and Aguero.

4) Rickie Lambert – Unfortunately Lambert will always struggle to get into the England squad. But that doesn’t deter away his astonishing talent. He is a natural striker that has proved himself time after time. Perhaps if he was at a bigger club he may have a better chance to break into the England squad. Lambert has clear talent and Southampton are lucky to have such a quality player in their ranks.

3) Frank Lampard – Surely Chelsea can’t let Lampard go. He proved today that he is still up for the fight as he scored in Chelsea’s 4-0 win at Stoke. Although Chelsea were already two up after Walters scored two own goals, Lampard proved that he can still find the net for the blues. He gave Stoke no way back in the game and without that third goal, Chelsea may have let their lead slip. I’m sure if Chelsea don’t want Lampard anymore, United, Liverpool and Arsenal will all pay good money to get him on their wage bills.

2) Romelu Lukaku – The big Belgian centre forward scored West Brom’s two goals at Reading. It was all going perfectly until Reading got back into the game and went on to win 3-2. But this doesn’t take anything away from Lukaku. He was amazing this week and it looks bright for Chelsea as they have now freed up space in their squad with the departure of Sturridge. Now Lukaku must return to Chelsea in the summer and battle Torres and Demba Ba for a place in the first XI.

1) Patrice Evra – Manchester United’s vice-captain gets a lot of stick from neutrals as last season wasn’t his best. But this season he has showed why Ferguson has kept the Frenchman in the side. He played a blinder against Liverpool. Although we are still unsure to whom the second goal will go to, Evra also proved that his defensive qualities are comparable to anyone in the league. But it really is his attack prowess that really makes him shine. 10/10 for his performance, truly remarkable.
