Liverpool defender Daniel Agger has been the subject of a transfer saga with a difference this summer. Normally supporters are used to players handing in transfer requests and their clubs doing everything in their power to keep hold of their prize assets, but it seems Liverpool and Daniel Agger are choosing to do the opposite.

Agger has been on the receiving end of a £20 million offer from reigning Premier League Champions Manchester City, the bid was rejected. However, Liverpool officials are keen to cash in on the Danish international and push the deal through, but only for their desired asking price.

Being a Liverpool player since 2006, the 27-year-old does not want to leave, he's been clear about that. Full of body ink, he's recently added to his collection by having the Kop anthem 'you'll never walk alone' tattooed on himself. The player himself is a fully committed Liverpool man that loves the club, it's supporters and playing for the merseysiders. Leaving the club is just not an option for him.

New Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers does not want to sell Agger, but he concedes that losing Agger is inevitable if a 'ridiculous offer' comes in.

As well as stating his desire to stay with Liverpool he has also admitted that his future is not in his hands despite pleading his ambition to stay with Liverpool. He said "I'd rather stay but that decision is not up to me at the moment. I don't want to be somewhere I am not wanted, but I would prefer if they wanted me to stay"

Manchester City will be reluctant to raise their offer especially with FIFA's Fair Play rules coming in regarding capping clubs transfer expenditure. With that in mind and Liverpool's high demands, it looks as if Daniel Agger and Liverpool supporters alike will receive their wish and an Anfield stay for the Kop hero. Any other conclusion to this situation will surely spark a backlash from the Liverpool faithful.
