Liverpool Transfer News: Reds Favourites To Sign Barcelona Forward David Villa

According to Tribalfootball, Barcelona striker David Villa's most likely destination is England, in the shape of Merseysider's Liverpool.

Backed up by recent comments from his agent Filipo Fusco suggesting that The Premier League would be the best option for his client, Liverpool are equally as keen to make the transfer happen.

30-year-old Villa has become some what a bit part player this season in La Liga and is all but surplus to requirements, opening up a chance to move away to re-vitalise his career. Liverpool are desperately seeking a new striker to add to a position that is currently looking very thin.

Villa would fit the bill for Liverpool Boss Brendan Rodgers, who is seeking a goal scorer. Villa has 35 goals in 84 matches for Barcelona and has been a key member of the recent dominating Spanish squad over the years.

Whether the Spanish international would be pursuaded to move to Anfield is another story, they are currently struggling to make their mark in the Premier League this season, Villa could take some convincing and would certainly want Champions League football.

Rodgers has ambition however and prefers to play an attractive attacking style of football, which would suit the type of player that Villa is.

There will be competition from other European clubs and January could well see a new chapter in the career of the highly rated prolific striker who has never been shy of the lime light.
