Liverpool have officially announced the signing of Swansea and Great Britain midfielder Joe Allen after the player has recieved praise from pundits and supporters alike. 

Ending months of speculation the Welsh international has signed for a fee of £15 million and has spoken of his delight in joining Liverpool on the clubs website, he said "I feel incredible, everyone knows the history of this club, its a massive club and I'm glad I've joined"

He went on to talk about the Merseysiders world famous supporters saying "The passion people here have for football is something I share and want to be a part of".

Allen is a very composed player who boasts intelligence and great technical ability on the ball. He's had an impressive Olympic tournament looking like a comfortable player who likes to pull the strings in the midfield. 

The 22-year-old becomes the second player to have been bought in by Liverpool boss Bredndan Rodgers this season along with Fabio Borini. Rodgers too spoke of his admiration of Allen saying "Joe is a player whose profile will fit perfectly with the ideas of this group. His ability to control and dominate the ball is an important ingredient in our attempt to gain success on the field".

It wasn't a difficult decision for Allen to join Liverpool having been managed by Rodgers previously during his time at Swansea along with his admiration of Liverpool Football Club.

Allen was also at Anfield on Thursday evening to watch his new club win in the Europa League qualifier beating FC Gomel 3-0. He will now meet up with his new team mates as they prepare for the Premier League kick off which is just around the corner.
