Thursday evening see's Liverpool officials defy the transfer rumour mills and pull off the signing of winger Oussama Assaidi, which seemed to have gotten away from the public eye and the media.

The 24-year-old has signed for Liverpool Football Club for £3 million subject to a medical. The winger turned down offers from Ajax, Spartak Moscow and Galatasaray to chose the Merseyside club. Fulham had also shown interest.

The Moroccon international has been scouted by Liverpool last season and has impressed in Holland as well as on the international stage, where he has gained 22 appearances thus far.

He is expected to be officially unveiled at Liverpool within 24 hours after he completes his medical. Known for his pace, he is predominantly a winger, can operate on both flanks and also has the ability to play down the middle in an attacking midfielder role.

Assaidi possesses the type of calibre that Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is looking for in order to play his quick passing game with pace and precision.

He is expected to sign a 4-year contract at Liverpool costing them £24,000 a week in wages. He only had one year remaining on his contract, hence the low asking price.

Assaidi will join other new boy Welsh International Joe Allen as Rodgers continues his summer re-building operation at Anfield, with talks also of Read Madrid's Nuri Sahin on a season long loan deal.
