On Wednesday, January 30, Arsenal hosts Liverpool in midweek fixtures of Premier League. Both sides occupy consecutive position in the league table with Arsenal leading by 3 points.
Both sides registered impressive wins in the previous Premier League fixture scoring 5 goals each. But if Last week's FA cup outings are looked at there seems a cause of worry for both managers.
Arsenal survived a scare to qualify for the next round. Liverpool on the other hand lost to Oldham leaving manager Brendan Rodgers with lots of unanswered questions.
Arsene Wenger would be delighted with the form of Oliver Giroud after netting 4 goals in 2 games. Theo Walcott and Lukas Podolski will feature along with Giriud. In the midfield Santi
Cazorla nad Jack Wilshere would be the key man with Abou Diaby playing the holding role. Tomas Rosicky and Oxlade Chamberlain could have a role to play later in the match.
Thomas Vermaelen is expected to return after injury but Arsene Wenger is likely to start with Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny as his central defence partnership.
Kieran Gibbs and Bacary Sagna will be the wide men.
Brendan Rodgers would not be too pleased with his side's display against Oldham Athletic which saw Liverpool eliminated out of the FA Cup. There will be changes for this game with captain Steven Gerrard returning to the starting line up. Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge will start the game after showing promosing signs of developing partnership in the recent games. Raheem Sterling and Stewart Downing
will be the wide men for Rodgers.
Lucas will be the holding midfielder and he has a big role to play stopping Cazorla and Wilshere combo. Daniel Agger and Martin Skrtel will be the central defenders.Glen Johnson has
a late fitness test and Andre Wisdom will play at the right.
Arsenal would be high on confiednce after recording back to back wins while Liverpool would like to recover from the shock FA cup defeat. Both sides posses a potent attack and a equally good midfiels. But all depends on the Managers and their starting eleven. Arsenal start as favorites but only marginally better. An exciting game in prospect.
