The Tottenham Hotspurs midfielder Luka Modric could be on his way out of White Hart Lane even before next season's kickoff. Losing the place in next season Champions League even after finishing fourth in the table could persuade the Croatian skipper to move out of Spurs.

The Croatian skipper handed over the transfer request last season but the Spurs finally managed to keep their star player. With Spurs sacking their manager Harry Redknapp and Spurs out of Champions League could make a move inevitable for the 26-year old Croat.

Former Croatia teammate and a good friend of Modric, Billic told the press he was close to agreeing a move to Spain.

"I'm very good friends with Modric," said the Sporting Gijon striker. "He wants to play in the Spanish league. He loves the Premier League but he wants to play in Spain. He's very close to agreeing a move."

Real Madrid would be the likely destination for the 26-year old midfielder. Madrid coach Jose Mourinho believes he is building a Champions League winning side for next season and Modric would perfectly fit the bill, according to Croatian legend Davor Suker.

"Luka Modric is a player who could play for Real Madrid. He needs to be playing for a team that will win trophies. He'd be perfect for them" said fomer Madrid star Suker.

The Tottenham midfielder is thought to be desperate to quit White Hart Lane, and although Chelsea and Manchester United are reportedly keen on the Spurs star, Bilic insists Spain is where Modric wants to be.

'I'm very good friends with Modric,' said the Sporting Gijon striker.

La Liga winners Real Madrid are long-term admirers of Modric, and with Jose Mourinho keen to build a Champions League winning side for next season, the 26-year-old would perfectly fit the bill, according to Croatian legend Davor Suker.

"Luka Modric is a player who could play for Real Madrid. He needs to be playing for a team that will win trophies. He'd be perfect for them" Former Real Madrid Star Suker went on to add

"I would recommend that Florentino Perez signs him. If he doesn't sign for Real Madrid, he'll end up at Manchester City or Chelsea. He has to leave Tottenham to win trophies" Suker went on to add.

Modric was delighted to know what Suker spoke about him glowingly. "I am proud he thinks I could be a Real Madrid player. It's good. I thank him a lot for his words."

English giant Manchester United are currently been linked with Modric. Will United be successful in landing the 26-year old Croatian or will he prefer a move to Spanish League winning side. It could be another twist in Modric's transfer saga. Modric is most likely to leave Spurs to play Champions League football next season.
