The Malaysian downpour

What a race for Ferrari and Alonso.

No one really believed the car could be competitive, but Alonso made sure he stayed ahead of the pack in the rain soaked Malaysian Grand Prix. The inability of the car was visible by judging Massa's dismal 15th finish. Although Ferrari scripted a dream win here, utilizing the conditions well, they will have to make massive improvements to the F2012 to get anywhere close to the pace setters.

Sergio Perez drove the race of his life to finish second. He scored more points in this race than the entire of last season. He was driving aggressively chasing the Ferrari of Alonso. His chances became slim when he ran wide on lap 50 with 6 laps to go. Nevertheless this was the best result for Sauber as an individual team. There are even paddock rumors for replacing Massa with Perez before the end of the season. His teammate Kobayashi had to retire due to a brake problem.

Mclaren had a great afternoon in qualifying but could not convert it into big wins. Hamilton starting from pole again today finished third. He did well to fend off Jenson Button in the initial stages of the race, especially after an aggressive start from Button. Button was having a decent race until he hit the HRT of Karthikeyan and had to join from the back of the pack. Later he could not generate enough tyre temperature and was struggling in his battle with Rosberg. However Mclaren stay at top of the constructors championship.

Webber was the best of the Red Bull drivers. The car was looking good but the overall result for the team was not satisfactory as Vettel finished a dismal 11th after slicing his tyres, after getting past Karthikeyan.

Raikkonnen drove beautifully to finish 5th for Lotus. The team should be happy with the result as the car looks consistent.

Bruno Senna finished 6th in his Williams. It was a good afternoon for Force India as both their drivers finished within the points. Resta finished 7th while Hulkenberg was 9th

Jean-Eric Vergne finished 8th for Torro Rosso while Michael Schumacher was 10th for Mercedes completing the points table.

The Chinese Grand Prix is next.!!!
