Manchester City Crash Out Of Champions League In Embarrassing Fashion

Big spenders Manchester City went crashing out of the Champions League following a tight 1-0 defeat at the hands of Borussia Dortmund, leaving the Sky Blues red in the face at the foot of Group D.

The German club netted the only goal of the fixture through local striker Julian Scheiber, which seals City's fate in qualifying for the second tier Europa League as well, after one of the worst performances by an English team in any European competitions.

The result leaves City bottom of their group with just three points and without a win: not a great return on the multi-million pound investment in the star-studded squad.

With the big Manchester Derby set for this weekend to decide who goes top of the English Premier League, City boss Roberto Mancini will need to rally his troops, thou derby matches normally bring the best out of players with the added passion that the rivalries bring.
