Edinson Cavani is one of the greatest strikers in the world right now and is very much the wanted man. Currently earning his trade over in Serie A for Napoli, he has attracted a lot of interest from major clubs around the world, now it seems as if Roberto Mancini's Manchester City are seriously looking at signing the Uruguay International, for a fee of up to £50 million.
Cavani had been wanted by the reigning European Champions Chelsea but their owner Roman Abramovich decided to pull out of any proposed deal, due to his asking price being too high. City however, don't seem to be concerned about the fee and with the prospect of potentially losing strikers Edin Dzeko and Mario Baletelli sooner rather than later, they are looking at bringing Cavani in to lead the line.
The 26-year-old is a prolific striker, notching up an incredible 19 goals in just 14 matches so far this season, after another impressive hat-trick at the weekend against Roma in a 4-1 win.
City's Coach Angelo Gregucci confirmed on Wednesday that his club did in fact have a strong interest in signing Cavani, he said "I don't know if the club will lay siege to Napoli for Cavani, but every club with a player of the highest level will know they'll be courted by bigger clubs".
He went on to agree that Cavani seemed happy at Napoli at the moment but that City were certainly interested in bringing him to The Etihad Stadium. Being a sought after striker, if City were to make a move for him, there will surely be competition coming in from around the globe with the likes of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich also keeping a watchful eye on the situation.755897
