Manchester United News: Luís Nani In Limbo After Failing To Move To Zenit

Manchester United winger Luís Nani has failed to complete a move to Russian side Zenit St Petersburg after the Russian transfer window closed on Thursday. The talks for Nani's move to the Russian giants collapsed because of the Portuguese winger's unreal wage demands.

United were willing to part with Nani during summer transfer window which interested several top clubs in the world. Zenit were the top runners to sign the Portuguese winger but only the player's personal terms was the blockage in signing the player.

"It's true we are negotiating for Nani and Moutinho, but Hulk and Witsel were our top priorities." Zenit's general director Maxim Mitrofanov said earlier this week.

Zenit have already acquired Hulk and Axel Witsel for a combined €80 million. But the big spending Russian side has failed to sign Nani and Russian International Andrei Arshavin on the last day of Russian transfer window.

Speaking about Zenit's failure to sign Nani, Mitrofanov said "If Hulk had demanded €8 million to €10 million a year; these conditions would have been unacceptable for Zenit. The transfer of Nani failed mostly due to this reason, as he asked for an enormous salary"

Nani was subbed during the United's first league game against Everton due to poor performance and then dropped from the next game. The Portuguese International came on for the final 30 minutes against Southampton last Sunday to help his side secure a thrilling victory.

Reports earlier last month suggested that Nani's agent had been demanding £ 130,000-pounds-per-week deal to keep his client at Old Trafford. With Nani failing to make a move out of Old Trafford, the Portuguese could struggle to make a way to Sir Alex Ferguson's first team. With Ashley Young out with injury, it could be time for Nani to make a comeback to Ferguson's starting XI by delivering an outstanding performance.
