It was the forwards that did the job for Manchester United with the defence conceding twice against a Stoke City side on Oct. 20, 2012. United ran out eventual winners by a 4-2 scoreline at Old Trafford and Sir Alex Ferguson recognised that attack is the form of defence for the Manchester side. To quote, "There is no doubt our attacking play is the best part of the team at the moment. Our forwards got us out of trouble again because our defending has been slack".

This win puts Manchester United 4 points adrift of Chelsea in the premier league, with 18 points after 8 games. United have made charactersitic solid if not flamboyant start to their new season. Wayne Rooney scored 3 goals in the match, two for United and an own goal, an overall positive game to celebrate ten years in the premier league.

Next up for United are Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, London. Chelsea have played some swashbuckling football till now and under Roberto Di Matteo, they lead the premier league table with 22 points, their latest victory coming at White Hart Lane against Tottenham Spurs 4-2. Chelsea's attacking trio of Oscar, Hazard and Mata have come in for much deserved praise and the contest with United's very own axis of Wellbeck-Rooney-Van Persie would be a fitting one.

United's defence has been a cause of concern for Sir Alex Ferguson and he would be hoping that their attacking talent bails them again at Chelsea's home. The contest should be fierce with both teams going for the jugular.
